The Introductory Alpha Training Programme for ministers and lay leaders was organised by Alpha India in collaboration with the Christian Institute for Religious Studies, Batala and the Diocese of Amritsar (C.N.I.) from 5th to 7th December 2011. Among the forty five participants, most of them were attending the Alpha programme for the first time. They were impressed by the potential of the Alpha course for the growth of the Church and evangelism. It was felt that the design of the course could easily be adopted in the Indian context where providing hospitality in a family is considered to be a spiritual act. The course was found to be simple enough and easily understandable by people of all categories.
The Diocese of Amritsar (C.N.I.) will surely promote the Alpha course in all its congregations. We also plan to organise an inter-denominational Youth Alpha training programme in February 2012.
